Spc. Morganne M. McBeth, 19, of Fredricksburg, Va., died July 2 in Al Asad, Iraq, of wounds sustained July 1 in a non-combat related incident in Khan Al Baghdadi, Iraq. She was assigned to the 1st Special Troops Battalion, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, N.C. If Morganne entered the room, you were going to smile. Her spunky character and selflessness is remembered by all who were privileged enough to have met her. As a combat medic, she treated all of her patients with unsurpassed compassion, regardless of their injury or illness severity. She was the kind of woman little girls dream of becoming. She had a warm, caring personality, but she was no pushover. She was a qualified paratrooper and a combat medic. She served with honor and distinction, was well liked by all who knew her, and managed to maintain her professional demeanor in stressful and trying situations. Her Awards and Decorations include, the Army Commendation Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, the Global War on Terror Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon, and the Basic Parachutist Badge. Morganne was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Zoe McBeth. She is survived by her father and stepmother, Leonard and Sylvia McBeth. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church. Morganne’s death was ruled an accidental homicide.
