Spc. Leslie D. Jackson of Richmond, Virginia attended George Wythe High School in Richmond where she served as Battalion Commander of the JROTC. She thought the military would help her move forward. Leslie grew up in a close-knit family and the young girl loved to shop and dress up and do her nails. In June 2003, Leslie graduated from high school and in August joined the United States Army. On Mar 28 2004 she was deployed to Kuwait and later to Iraq. She was killed in Baghdad, Iraq, when her military vehicle hit an improvised explosive device at age 18, as she was returning to Camp Eagle.
