1st Sgt. Eddie Turner, 41, of Fort Belvoir, Va., died June 22 at Camp Clark, Afghanistan, of injuries sustained from a non-combat related incident. He was assigned to the 626th Brigade Support Battalion, 187th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Ky. Turner’s awards and decorations include: Bronze Star Medal; Meritorious Service Medal (2); Army Commendation Medal (8); Army Achievement Medal (8); Army Good Conduct Medal (6); National Defense Service Medal (2); Korean Defense Service Medal; Southwest Asia Service Medal; Afghanistan Service Medal; Iraq Campaign Medal; Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; Noncommissioned Officers Professional Development Ribbon (3); Army Service Ribbon; Overseas Service Ribbon; Kuwait Liberation Medal; NATO Medal Former Republic of Yugoslavia; Parachutists Badge; Air Assault Badge; Driver/Mechanic Badge; and Weapons Qualification, M4, expert.
